La dignidad no ocupa visa: De William Walker a Donald Trump

A propósito del retiro de la visa gringa a expresidentes, funcionarios del Poder Judicial, diputados y ciudadanos costarricenses:

Desde 1973 hasta 2016 viajé a los Estados Unidos, con visa múltiple indefinida (que ya no existe), por estudio, trabajo, negocios o turismo.

A partir de ese momento en que el convicto Trump fue electo presidente por primera vez, «nada se me ha perdido» en ese país. Al contrario, ni siquiera he intentado renovar la visa.

Por dignidad, y porque soy un tico orgulloso y ciudadano del mundo libre, decidí que no tenía nada que hacer en una potencia que, sistemáticamente antes y descaradamente ahora, viola el derecho internacional, los tratados comerciales y la soberanía, ya no solo de países enemigos, sino de sus propios aliados. Es el país que incluso ahora, con el presidente naranja, no solo reprime, sino que hasta asesina a sus propios ciudadanos por discrepar con el gobierno; detiene y deporta inmigrantes, legales o ilegales por igual, separa familias… arresta a niños de 6 años…

Es la potencia imperialista más violenta, cuya política exterior desde el siglo antepasado se basa en autoproclamarse dueña de todo el continente americano con su Doctrina Monroe de «América para los americanos», creyendo que los únicos americanos son ellos.

No… no me voy a someter a la censura de mis valores y convicciones de paz, aunque me duela en el alma la traición del actual gobierno, dirigido por siervos menguados y traidores a la Patria que pisotean el orgullo y legado de Juanito Mora, y la memoria de los Juan Santamaría que ofrendaron su vida para echar al filibustero imperialista William Walker, hoy reencarnado en Donald Trump.

Y le voy a facilitar el trabajo a los cónsules y funcionarios gringos, para que no se tengan que esforzar mucho:

It is the most violent imperialist power, whose foreign policy since the century before last has been based on proclaiming itself the owner of the entire American continent with its Monroe Doctrine of “America for Americans,” believing that they are the only Americans.

No… I will not submit to having my values and convictions of peace censored, even though my soul aches at the betrayal of the current government, led by diminished public servants and traitors to the Homeland who trample on the pride and legacy of Juanito Mora, and the memory of the Juan Santamarías who sacrificed their lives to kick out the imperialist filibuster William Walker, reincarnated today in Donald Trump.
